The Scoop on QVC For SHUGR

Many of you have been wondering what happened to the previously announced foray onto QVC for the baked goods/SHUGR package to be offered on Lori Grenier’s show.

Here’s the latest as I understand it. The special offer will still appear on QVC, but not on Lori’s show. I’m not sure how it will be offered, but it will be offered on QVC.

HESG is now awaiting the final content approval from QVC. Once received, a final launch date will be announced. I should have the 411 on the progress, and will let you know as soon as I do.

Comments and questions are welcome.

  1. I enjoy your web site, i visit it everyday now for about 4mos. I’m new to the stock market and don’t have much invested. I find it though as a good hobby. I bought stock listed here bptr, kal, hesg and fmly. thanks for keeping the site up, theres not to many I trust. sg

Editor: You should have sold FMLY- that one is going nowhere for a long time. HESG needs to deliver tangible results by the end of March, or I will drop them as well. KAL is looking great. BPTR- not much risk at these levels. Someday that one should get rolling. I wish you had some of the other recent wins. BTYH, HDY, or TLPE- nevertheless, you have a good shot. Thanks for staying tuned. Hopefully, ’06 will be much better than ’05.

  2. HESG- What in the world has happened to Sequestrol? A year ago they were saying it would be released in a few months. Anyone know?

Editor: It was covered in the press release they put out shortly after the first of the year. It has been reformulated and the infomercial is in production right now. Check both past press releases and our archive section for coverage of the state of the company. I have it rated a hold right now. If they don’t start delivering hard results by the end of March, I will be dropping it.

  3. Regarding HESG, what is the relationship that Swiss Research has with Health Sciences Group? When I search for Shugr it comes up as Swiss Research and no mention of HESG. I think that the product is overpriced to generate any substantial sales. Thanks, John

Editor: HESG owns Swiss Research. If you believe SHUGR is overpriced and will never sell, you should simply sell the stock. At this point, there is no hard evidence to suggest you are wrong. As I have stated, I am giving them to the end of March to deliver tangible results.

  4. DMSI – Other than the stock going up / down a penny each day, it has not moved. Would you know what the current prospects / status reports for marketing DMSI’s 2 products i/e “U-Stripe” and “Wand”. Thanks

Editor: Haven’t had any updates from the company recently. Will update everyone when I do. In the original presentation, I stated this one was a very long term idea. If you have invested for the long term, then you shouldn’t be worried about the stock coming down a little. What you should do is set a mental stop loss- risk whatever you are comfortable. Anotherwords- if you are prepared to hold the stock down to $.70, then simply sell it if it drops below that level. You have to choose the risk tolerance level you have.

  5. Hi, The price of “real” Sugar is going thru the roof, if the price of sugar continues this trend will this help products like Shugr. Thanks,Dan

Editor: It can’t hurt- I know a lot of people are concerned about the price of SHUGR- I believe their future is as an ingredient for an end product, i.e. beverages, baked goods, etc. Since the product is far superior, as a percentage of the total cost the higher price of SHUGR would be meaningless.

  6. I agree with you that the future of this product is in commercial applications. But why is the end of March a big deal? That’s only 3 months. If you truly believe in this product why such a short time frame? It seems to me that the big dogs who are testing this product need time to make a final decision. From what I hear it can take 6 to 12 months for product testing, if not longer. HESG closed on the purchase of Swiss Research in August right? That’s only 6 months. I am very confused with your drop dead date of the end March ’06. I understand that HESG management has not exactly delivered on projections but this is business and the product launches were delayed. Ok, management was too aggressive, OK, but why the end of March. Please advise.

Editor: Actually, it’s not 3 months. When I first interviewed the company, they assured me they would be delivering around $10 million by end of ’05. In the spring of ’05, they were out with much more agressive numbers than $10 million. They delivered a virtual goose egg. That makes it more like 15 months without delivering. I picked March because it seems reasonable. It’s just arbitrary. However, you have to draw a line in the sand somewhere and have discipline. That having been said, today’s press release gives us evidence things may finally be jelling. March might be off the table if we have one or two more events like today’s.

  7. Yes I agree with you, DNP is no joke. Do you know of any DNP customers? It would be nice to see a Kellogg, Sara Lee, or General Mills on that list.

Editor: DNP is a private company and they don’t disclose that information. However, apparently they are the 1200 lb gorilla in that space, and can open many doors.

  8. …one more thing, it would appear that DNP can now actually sell the product to end users given that the pricing has finally been set. Whereas before, they could only speculate on price and quanity discounts with clients and offer samples. Please advise.

Editor: I’m not sure if there is a question here. Yes- the price has been set and now HESG has to work on getting the cost down as they start to get leverage from buying in larger quantities.

  9. I was wondering when you expect another annoucement from HESG regarding either Shugr, QVC, or the company for that matter?

  10. I was wondering when you expect an annoucement from HESG regarding Shugr, QVC, or on the company for that matter?

Editor: I can’t say for sure .  I was hoping they would wrap up the Japanese distribution deal by now.

  11. Seeing how they did sign that deal with DNP for three years, is it possibly for this company to belly out on us and wipe out all of our shares?

Editor: Of course it is possible, and if they don’t figure out a way to get their sales going, I believe it is likely. DNP was a good first step, but these guys need to sell their products this year or we will all lose a lot of money on this idea. Right now, we need more anecdotal evidence that SHUGR is gaining acceptance and Sequestrol will be marketed soon. Lots of other possibilities as well. However, over the next few months it is time to put up or shut up.

  12. Hi there, I am just wondering, is this a reverse head and shoulder we see on the Dow (7 last years)… I never got my free sample of shgr back here in europe…Remember?

Editor: Sorry- that is out of my control. I wish you had.
