eFood- Catching a Bit of a Bid

By OTCJournal Editor
August 29, 2008 @ 4:25 pm

In case you hadn’t noticed, EFSF has been catching a little bit of a bid of late. I believe I know why.

First- I want to comment on their recent press release concerning the “relaunch” of the DR campaign after evaluating the test phase and making changes. In my view, for these products and the future of the way they are marketed, this is do or die. They tried marketing through traditional retail outlets, and it was a failure. They believe they have products consumers want and need. I do as well being a daily user of Cinnergen. There is no question they will get going with a big campaign- the bigger issue- will it work? That’s the speculation. The whole company is not pinned on these two products- Cinnergen and Cinnechol- however, I believe their credibility and judgment are pinned here, and they need to get a positive result.

Now, on to the recent apparent renewed interest in the stock:

One factor is seasonality. The stock is very oversold, and seems to have found a bottom. Everyone who wanted out has gotten out. Short covering might be helping with a bid. Shorts know the company isn’t going to zero, and the summer doldrums are nearing an end. They might be thinking they’ve rung out as much profit as possible.

However, I believe a far bigger issue for a few folks willing to take a flyer is the recent appearance of the painfully long awaited PurEffect web site. It could be a signal that this product is finally ready to launch- I make it about a 15 month delay from when I first heard about it.

If you go to www.pureffect.com, you will find a live web site without much substance- yet. There’s a rotating picture on the lower right, and an order tab that doesn’t let you order anything.

The stock enjoyed a little volume surge on Thursday and Friday, and seemed to firm up just a bit.

I think it’s kind of funny. People like to complain about this one more than just about any stock I cover, but they’re still looking for a reason to buy the stock at this low level to profit from a rebound.

We’re far from out of the woods on this idea, but at least it’s a glimmer of progress at long last. Coupled with the recent announcement of the relaunch of the DR campaign, there is a good chance this one will turn in the right direction at least for a little while. Eventually, they will have to deliver the goods.
Comments and questions are welcome.

  5. ANONYMOUS You know why he doesn’t post his name? And it is a he. It is a down on his luck man. He blames you for his failure. His failure to have any plan at all. Not just a financial plan, but a life plan. He owned this stock at .20, .15, right through your SSL, through .10 despite me telling him on a different board to sell and he’ll ride it into the ground if the company cannot produce.

However, you, Sir, are doing your job. Your advising many of these as..uh, people to sell at your SSL but they can’t do that because they are use to not listening in other areas of their lives. I think that regardless of what efoodsafety does or what efsf does, these ANONYMOUS butts will lose money. ANONYMOUS will lose money on GE, MSFT, WMT, LOW, PFE…etc. He cannot buy low and sell high because he is hard wired to lose.

But there is good news: he can change. He can realize that despite his bad ways and his own faults, he can choose to change. His first order of business: stop posting.

Editor: The name is not important. I understand people’s frustration. It’s also easy to target me because I’m the one who provides the content. However, I find it a bit irritating that some of the folks who like to post don’t remember that there was an SSL prominently posted for everyone of these ideas. If you’re going to complain about the content, you have to look at the whole picture. Just not the part that fits your argument. Some people need to learn discipline, and need to take responsibility for their decisions.

  6. Both Sat and Sunday..here in Los Angeles, Ca. Huge companys makinking a lot of money (smaller ones too) advertise ALL the time for all kinds of nutritional type products…most have been on for over 2- 3 years….so it must work for this industry. Facial products also…but a nice “Informercial” for “pure effect” would be nice….just like the “Proactive” info commercials that have been on for the past 5 years or so…. Sell rhe nutritional stuff on the radio….the facial acne cream…on TV! Then you have a REAL winner. They have a great (domain) name for their product name. They just have to follow what “Proactive” has done with their product….and we will be “off to the races”!

    Peace!
    Dan

Editor: I like your picture- I hope it gets painted.

    Editor: Indeed.

  8. Like some others, I have doubts about a radio-based campaign, but then again, the results can’t be any worse than the company’s past performance. Maybe we’ll all be pleasantly surprised.

Editor: I don’t know much about radio campaigns- apparently, they thought that was the best opportunity to get a return on investment. We’ll have to see how it plays out.

  9. Do have the names of the radio stations, radio show and time slots for the new Cinnechol Radio Show?

    Editor: Haven’t gotten a schedule.

  10. are you still in touch with this company? it look like you don’t know whats going on

Editor: Here’s what I know- they revamped their DR campaign, and the new version is starting with a massive radio ad campaign. I don’t know what’s going on with PurEffect- I keep hearing from all kinds of folks they are close to getting that program rolling. Here’s what else I know- if they don’t figure out how to sell a lot more product than they have in the past, I’ll be out before they end of the year. Here’s what else I know- US stocks and the consumables sectors is going to be very tough for the forseeable future. Watch the video on the new idea this weekend- a much larger, profitable company, outside this market where there is no recession. That’s the direction we need to go to make money until the climate improves in the US.

  11. big pr today new idea radio is this the 1930s? whos coming up with this stuff?

Editor: Perhaps it’s the best return on investment for marketing dollars. All I care is that it works. However, the market wasn’t too impressed. No one seemed to care.

  12. I have to admit I just keep collecting it at these prices. I think it is worth the risk. It worked with Commerce Planet.

Editor: I don’t know if they will ever generate numbers like CPNE did for a while until they screwed it up. However, I don’t think this one is dead, so at some point another one of it’s nine lives should start, and buyers don’t here will probably make some money.

    Comment by Eric's Muscle Cars — 8/30/2008 @ 4:59 pm

  13. PurEffect should have been launched in Sept.’06. Compare with ProActiv which campained intensely at that date up to now. Pro special is about half price and just about everyone has seen the ads. It will take a super effort and a bit of luck to get a small slice of the cake. Delays are murder!.

Editor: It’s kind of a moot point until it actually launches and generates sales. So far, it’s been nothing but rhetoric, and a rather simple web page does not make for a product launch. We’ll just have to see what happens. If the product never launches or if its launch fails, it’s already priced into the stock. So, anything to the plus would be a step in the right direction.

    Comment by luigi — 8/30/2008 @ 12:47 pm

  14. It certainly is nice to see some positive movement after so many disappointments from this company. Still waiting for some positive results.

Editor: Don’t get too excited yet. It’s a pretty anemic positive sign.

  15. So who is “looking for a reason to buy the stock at this low level to profit from a rebound.” I find that funny your not looking to buy are you? All you have done this year is sell your shares. So really who is looking to buy this dog that you got paid to promote? Ive been selling just like you!! I have lost enough here already. No way this turns around and goes to your $1.00 plus target.
“If they hit on just one of the three products I am going to show you today, sales could jump from about $1 million annually to $30 to $50 million plus annually. If so, we are looking at a potential 5 to 10 bagger from current levels: a $1 stock plus. ” Your words not mine. This stock cant even go back to .16. It cant even go to .10.

Editor: I’m not a buyer, but I own 1.3 million shares, which based on their history is probably too much. I also own the headache and brain damage that comes with representing a company that has done a poor job of marketing their products, which hardly seem worth it.  The reason- I then have to take crap from guys like you who want to belly ache about a failed idea. Of course, in a space like this, there are going to be failed ideas. I’ve said this before, and I remind you whiners- if you own it below $.15- that’s your choice. That was my published SSL, and if you didn’t adhere to it, that ’s your problem. At this point, I’m just reporting what’s going on, hoping their marketing plan yields results. So far, there is no hard evidence, just speculation. And yes, from time to time I might sell a little- that’s because it costs money to run this service- it’s not free. If you think this representation is any huge victory for me, you are sadly mistaken.

  16. Here is question about your lecture on fibonacci retracements. When a stock has gone back to the .618 retracement level, you buy and make a successful trade with the stock going up, and the stock goes back to the same .618 retracement level again. Is the stock still a buy at that same retracement level the second time? I have seen it work out well, buying at the same retracement level twice, but I am wondering if it is really a good strategy to “go the well” twice or more.

Editor: Yes- the technicians would call that a “double bottom”, and it’s twice as good of a buy if it drops to the 61.8% a second time and it holds. It demonstrates it is truly a good support level. Another great thing about 61.8% retracements- you can set your stop loss fairly tight, because if it drops much below at that point, it’s probably going much lower.
