Nothing Like a Cool $200
Million |
|
You might wonder who's got the cool
$200
million, and what it has to do with today's edition of the
OTC Journal.
Remember my short term trading idea?- TapImmune (OTC BB: TPIV) I
said some positive developments would start to roll their way, and today's
post close news was the start.
The richest, or second richest man
in the world (depending on the price of Berkshire Hathaway at any one time)
is always smiling. Wouldn't you be if you could give all that money to
charity?
In 1997, Bill Gates got $200 million
poorer, but also got $200 million worth of satisfaction out of a grant
the Gates Foundation provided to The Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation.
On September 18, 2007, the Gates Foundation announced a five year, $200
million grant to the Aeras Foundation specifically to develop a vaccine
for TB by 2015.
As if that weren't enough, this past
week Bill Gates made another barn burner announcement related to vaccine
development. You think $200 million was a nice pile? By the Gates standards,
think again. This time it's $10 billion over the next 10 years.
Last week, on January 29th, Gates
announced his foundation would grant $10 billion to vaccine development
over the next 10 years. I guess he feels strongly about funding vaccine.
So, how does all this circle back
to today's subject- TapImmune (TPIV)? Glad you asked.
Today, post close, TPIV announced
it has signed a Letter of Intent to collaborate with the Gates favorite-
Aeras
Global TB Vaccine Foundation. The CEO of Aeras is "looking forward
to evaluating TapImmune’s adjuvant technology in our next generation genetic
vaccines.”
As I stated in my introductory presentation,
TPIV
was
going to start getting some recognition for its technology, and in the
world of vaccines this is big news.
In the meantime, TPIV started
out reasonably well for us, but rolled back down in last week's sell off.
However, since I wrote about it at $.60, it has run up to $.70,
rolled back down to $.50, and then completed the circuit to end
up back at the original entry price of $.60.
As you can see from the chart, TPIV
held up pretty nicely in the last 10 days of sell off. The uptrend remains
more or less intact. I set the SSL on this one at $.40, and we didn't even
get close. $.50 seemed to be about the bottom before it turned back up.
I continue to like this entry level
as you look at the big picture. The stock was double to triple the current
price as briefly ago as last October, and there's nothing like accumulating
at the bottom.
Also, you have tonight's post close
news, which will likely put a charge into this story for investors. Nothing
like hanging your hat near the Gates charity money if you're looking to
cure disease with vaccine developments.
Today's post close news is what I
like to refer to as a "3rd Party Endorsement" situation. None of us are
really qualified to judge the value of TPIV's TAP technology. However,
the folks at Aeres are, and they think highly enough of the therapy to
work with it.
Look for TPIV to perk up a
bit on this news.
