As promised, in today's edition we will tell you a story about a man who suffered from a debilitating disease. The symptoms erupted during a stressful period in his life, and disrupted his ability to function on a day to day basis. He had the good fortune to accidentally discover a new and revolutionary treatment for this disease, and today he describes himself as cured of a previously incurable condition.
 

Manuel Tarabay- His Story

Manuel Tarabay is Lebanese by descent, but grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. He has his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth, MBA from INSEAD at Fontainebleau, and a degree in engineering and electronics from ESIB in Beirut. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Lebanese.

Mr. Tarabay chose a career in international investment banking. His varied educational background and connections on several continents made him the perfect candidate for this career choice.

He was employed at Banker's Trust in Geneva when it was bought out by Deutsche Bank. During the buy out process Mr. Tarabay was coincidentally experiencing set backs in his personal life. It was 1996, and he was under enormous stress both personally and professionally.

This stressful condition triggered an onslaught of symptoms of the disease Psoriasis which had previously been only a minor annoyance to Mr. Tarabay, no worse than a simple case of dandruff or eczcema.

Psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent skin disorder, characterized by reddish, slightly elevated plaques or papules (solid elevations) covered with silvery-white scales. In most cases, the lesions tend to be symmetrically distributed on the elbows and knees, scalp, chest, and buttocks. 

There is no permanent cure for psoriasis, but the skin symptoms can be treated with locally applied corticosteroids, methotrexate, coal-tar ointment, or ultraviolet light with varying degrees of success.

In Mr. Tarabay's case, the disease was life altering. He had a version of the disease which severely affected the palms of his hands and soles of his feet. He broke out in painful lesions which prevented him from performing simple daily tasks. He could not type on his computer or take a walk on the beach.

The appearance of the disease on his body was psychologically crippling. In a business environment people were reluctant to shake his hand, and he was deeply affected by the furtive looks he received when out in public. He became reclusive.

Because of his unusual International connections, Mr. Tarabay embarked on a world wide search for relief. Over the next two years he was exposed to every conceivable treatment from ultra violet light at a world renown clinic in Geneva to rubbing an ointment extracted from plants in the mountains of Lebanon on his skin.

He was able to bring the symptoms under control through salt baths, ointments, and stress reduction, but the disease still greatly affected his life. He had reached the point where he was ready to move to Miami to accept a new position as the tropical environment near the ocean is ideal for Psoriasis sufferers.
 

The Cure

Manuel Tarabay decided to take a leave of absence and visit his family in Caracas, Venezuela before making the final decision to take the new position in Miami.

While visiting one of his cousins he was introduced to a man who claimed he had been completely cured of a terrible case of Psoriasis which had plagued him his entire life. Manuel Tarabay was extremely skeptical. He had researched every conceivable treatment available for two years, and he knew there was no cure for the disease.
