LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Sept. 4, 2003--Emmett/Furla Films, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Family Room Entertainment Corporation (OTCBB: FMLY - News), is very excited
to announce that the motion picture "Control" commenced filming on August
24th in East Europe with Ray Liotta in the lead role.
Tim Hunter ("River's
Edge") is set to direct the picture. Willem Dafoe ("Spiderman," "Shadow
of the Vampire," "The English Patient") and Michelle Rodriguez ("S.W.A.T.,"
"Girlfight," "The Fast and the Furious," "Blue Crush," "Resident Evil")
are already set in co-starring roles. Ray Liotta replaces Matt Dillon.
The screenplay for "Control" was written by Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer.
Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce the picture under their fifteen-picture
production/finance arrangement with Avi Lerner's Millennium Films. Emmett/Furla
owns approximately twenty five percent (25%) of the net profits of the
Picture.
Emmett and Furla stated,
"We are excited to have Ray Liotta on board. Collaborating with Ray again
we believe will yield a movie which will be as exciting for audiences as
our last collaboration, the much lauded 'Narc'."
"Control" is the story
of a sociopathic killer on death row (Liotta) who's given a chance to live
if he agrees to take part in a top secret chemical behavioral modification
program run by a brilliant doctor, played by Dafoe. As the killer's personality
begins to change, both he and the doctor must take drastic measures when
the violent past comes back to haunt them both. Rodriguez will play the
love interest of Liotta.
Emmett/Furla Films is
also pleased to announce that they have acquired Beverly Brandt's novel
"Room Service" and have partnered with Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion
Pictures to produce the picture. "Room Service" marks the third collaboration
for Emmett/Furla and Valhalla. Randall Emmett and George Furla with Gale
Anne Hurd will produce the picture, which is currently out to writers.
"Room Service" is a romantic
comedy in the vein of "Maid in Manhattan." When spoiled young heiress Katya
Morgan is disinherited by her father, she's forced to abandon her socialite
lifestyle and take a job as a maid in the hotel where she once lived lavishly.
Working to pay off her tab, she finds love along the way, and manages to
pass tests secretly laid out in her father's will. When she earns back
the inheritance she thought she'd never receive, she learns her greatest
lesson: that sometimes getting what you don't want is the best reward of
all.
Finally, Emmett/Furla
Films is proud to announce that "Wonderland" starring Val Kilmer, Lisa
Kudrow (TV's "Friends"), Kate Bosworth ("Blue Crush") and Dylan McDermott
(TV's "The Practice") has been accepted into the 2003 Toronto International
Film Festival and will have its world premier at the Festival. Emmett and
Furla executive produced "Wonderland" which was directed by James Cox.
Lions Gate will release the film theatrically in September.
Emmett and Furla are
currently executive producing "Love Song for Bobby Long," which is being
produced by Bob Yari and Paul Miller, directed by Shaniee Gable and which
stars John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson. "Love Song for Bobby Long"
is currently filming in New Orleans. Emmett/Furla are currently in post-production
"Blind Horizon" from freshman helmer Michael Haussman and starring Val
Kilmer, Neve Campbell and Sam Shepard. Emmett/Furla recently announced
that they would be producing "Micronauts," and "The Abominable Snowman"
with Gale Anne Hurd. Ilya Salkind will also produce "The Abominable Snowman".
