Batting 1000 Last Week

I live in San Diego. San Diego has dubbed itself "America's Finest City" which it is of course if you judge strictly by the weather. However, it costs a fortune to live here, taxes are nearly the highest in the country, and we've never had a championship professional sports team. Betwen our baseball Padres, our football Chargers, and the long departed NBA team- we've never had a World Champion.

Athletes keep departing. Adrian Gonzalez, our home born all star first baseball left for the Boston Red Sox, along with his .280 lifetime batting average. Now he's now making about $24 million a year.

Last week, my batting average was three times that of Adrian's - 1000. The means, every time I stepped up to the plate last week, I got a base hit. No home runs yet from last week's ideas, but both solid base hits. Here's a quick review of recent ideas:

  • Imperial Resources (IPRC): introduced last Sunday night at $.49, closed Thursday (no trading Friday) at $.58. That's a solid 18.3% in the first week.
  • Tibet Pharma (TBET): Introduced for Wednesday's open at $4.03- Made a high of $4.90, and then round tripped back to $4.25. That's 19.8% in a day, and 4.1% if you just held it- in two trading days.
  • Honorable mention is recent idea Bering Exploration (BERX)- this one is making me nauseous it's so volatile- Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disney. First covered on March 31st at $1.30, this stock has since seen a high trade of $1.69, and a low of $.82. Last week alone the stock from $1.21 to $.82 to $1.22- now, that's volatile. You could have scalped two or three trades out of this one if you were good.

The charts don't lie. You could and hopefully did make money from all three of these ideas. I consider it a base it if you could have made money. I consider it a home run if it hits my target price. In baseball, if you hit singles about 1/3 of the time you get up in the majors, you'll make over $20 million a year. This ain't baseball, but it's a game of averages, numbers, and statistics.

This Week's Easter Egg Hunt

Today, I'm hunting for Easter Eggs in the form of next week's profitable trades. I believe I will skip tomorrow, but I'm am looking at one particularly tasting looking egg that is likely to appear in your inbox Monday after the market closes.

I like sharing the ideas after the close so all members have an equal chance to read up prior to the following day's open. Pre open ideas are sometimes necessary due to news driven ideas, but post close the day before simply works better for you.

Special wishes to the world's Christians on Easter Sunday, and let's hope next week is as good as last week on the trading front.

As advised in past editions, if you take a position and have a reasonable profit target, don't forget to file a GTC limit sell order with your brokerage firm in the early going. That way, you won't miss a strong move.
