The OTC Journal is dedicated to helping individual investors make more money in the stock market.  From time to time we bring you profiles on young, undiscovered companies that we feel have the potential to provide you with outstanding returns.  We've created a day-trading section with excellent content, and now we are going to allow our members to share their investing ideas through the 1st Net's $36,000 Stock Challenge which will begin on September 1st.

The long awaited 1st Net $36,000 Stock Challenge is ready to begin.  The game will be played on a month-to-month basis and cash prizes will be awarded every month for the best performing portfolios.  At the end of each week, participants will be able to access the trading activity of the best performing portfolios so that you can use this information to improve your trading skills.

First, we want to thank the 863 players that have been participating in our Beta Test Version of the game since June 15th.  Hopefully all the bugs have been worked out of the game, but it will continue to grow and evolve every month.

Tomorrow, August 31st, all the current portfolios will be reset to $100,000 in cash.  The game will begin at the open of the market on September 1st.  The first month's contest will end after the market closes on September 30th, and the next contest will begin on October 1st.  We will be introducing games of different lengths as time goes by in order to reward longer term investors for their performance.

Here are the basic rules of the game:

• The game will always begin on the first trading day of the month and end at the close of the market on the last trading day.
• The three top performing portfolios will be awarded cash prizes.  The winners will be judged strictly by the value at the end of the month, not the closed out positions.
• Please take the time to read the rules before beginning play.  They can be found on the home page at www.1stnetstockgame.com.
• Pay particular attention to rule 8.5.  Our game runs off a 15 minute delayed quote.  During our beta test period, we recognized that some players were purchasing stocks using real time quotes, and then selling them quickly knowing that the stocks would be higher in 15 minutes.  Players that are deemed to be trading in this manner will be disqualified by the Judges at their sole discretion.
• Prizes will be awarded in the following manner: $1,500 for 1st Place, $1,000 for 2nd Place, and $500 for 3rd Place.  We are working on sponsorships to increase the prize money and offer other prizes.

One more exciting feature we have created:  If you go to the Community Message Thread button on the menu bar, you will find chat room threads have been created.  Each and every stock that any player purchases will automatically have a message board thread created in this section, and you are invited to discuss the companies with other players.
